Scope of the Unit
This novel study will focus on The Giver by Lois Lowry. We will be discussing the characters and themes of the novel and applying this knowledge to our own world. The Giver follows twelve year old Jonas who lives in a "perfect" community where everybody is the same, no one can make any choices and no one feels any emotions. This is called Utopia. We will be looking at some different ideas about what Utopia could be like and what our Utopia would be like.
